Did you hear it?
Al Gore gave a historic speech calling for America to cease using carbon-based fuels within a decade. We want to mark this historic moment, when a respected and celebrated figure, calls for the end of our fossil fuel dependence and the continuation of an energy revolution.

Reminiscent of JFK’s call to put a man on the moon within a decade, Al Gore said, “America must commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and other clean sources within 10 years.” Good on you, Mr. Gore!

If you want to see the full speech:

OR, visit the website, Alliance for Climate Protection, which Al Gore founded. Should you wish to support this campaign (and who wouldn’t?), you can donate online or you can also have Sungevity donate on your behalf to the We Campaign by playing Solarsfun online. Solar SFUN is a game intended to help people understand clean energy technologies with a bit of trivia and arcade.

It’s not an inconvenient truth anymore…global warming is happening and technologically, we can make the transition that Al Gore calls for. This is our opportunity! Solar panels could provide about three-quarters of the electricity load of residential buildings in America from their own rooftops! To reach our brighter future, we need political support for renewable energy.

How we address this truth, now, in this moment, is what will dictate the global environment we live in for years to come. At Sungevity, we think it’s time to make changes on both a personal level (more than half of our home-owning employees have solar installed) and at a global level. We’re working on the global part. If you have suggestions, please get in touch. We love to hear from our readers.
